The day of my operation had finally arrived! I woke up early as I need to be at the hospital at 8am as I had to settle the administration work plus going for a wiring procedure prior to my operation.
Once the administration work were done, I went up to my ward nervously as finally I can remove the tumors and the cancer infected lymph nodes. I changed out of my clothes and waited for the nurses to bring me to the ultrasound room to do the wiring procedure whereby the radiologist would hook the wire to the clips that were implanted to my tumors and lymph nodes prior to the start of my chemotherapy.
At 12:30pm sharp, the nurse came up to my ward and wheeled me to the ultrasound room. When I reached the room, I was so scared and nervous as to what to expect. The radiologist came, he used the ultrasound to locate the clips then he proceeded to apply local anaesthesia (L.A) on the 3 spots that the clips were at. He then proceeded to make a small cut and then he inserted the wire and tried to locate the clips again with the ultrasound so that my breast doctor, Dr Mona Tan can remove the tumors and the lymph nodes easily. The radiologist did a few tries on the first clips and I must tell you the L.A did not work as well as I hope as I can feel the pain. Okay maybe I am too sensitive but I can feel the pain! After he was done hooking the wire to the clips, he then got the nurse to bring me to the mammogram room to take a mammogram (before he put a plaster over the insertions) to check that all wire are in the right place. After they took the mammograms, they release the mammogram machine that was squeezing my breast and I smelled something fishy, I turned and saw that my blood was spilled on the mammogram machine and hey it hurt like hell!

They then wheeled me back to the ultrasound room to clean up the insertion area and covered it up with a plaster before the operation. The radiologist told me that no worries, he will put pressure on the insertion area for 10 seconds to the bleeding and then he told me another 10 seconds, my blood was taking a bit long to clog. (P.S: Don’t eat too much fish before a operation as its thin your blood.)
Once they were done cleaning up the insertion area, they wheeled me back to my ward where my aunt was waiting for me. My aunt sat there with me in the ward until the nurse came to bring me to the waiting room for the operation. My aunt hugged me and tell me it will be over soon. The moment she hugged me, my tears just started to fall. Of course I was afraid!
When I went into the waiting area for the operation, I kept praying to God that everything would be alright. Finally the nurses came and wheeled me into the operating theater. The walls looked so sterile that it actually add on to my nervousness. The anesthesia doctor asked me if I am alright before she start to administer the anesthesia, I told her that my wound where the insertions were done hurt alot. They had to give me painkillers before they give me anesthesia.
Finally, my breast doctor came and after verifying my details, I was out until I woke up at the waiting area for after operation procedure at 9plus at night.
I was just glad that the operation was a success. No more tumors and cancer infected lymph nodes in my body! Praise God!
