When I first started hormonal therapy, those who have read my previous post knew that I suffered from giddy spells and low blood pressure. Not only that, no one can tell me why I suffered giddy spells even my doctors.
After talking to a close friend who is also on Aromatase Inhibitors (AIs), she suggested to me to take a glucose test to see what is wrong. I took her advice and found out that I actually suffer from low blood sugar. My blood sugar is constantly on the dangerously low side and nothing brings it up except for fructose.
I was frustrated as I have been asking my doctors and yet no one can pin point what is my problem and why I constantly have giddy spells till now.
Not only that, I was also putting on weight even though I don’t eat a lot and is always exercising. Nothing work to keep my weight stable. Eventually my close friend suggested to me to start on diet similar to keto diet and cut out all forms of carbs from my diet to see if my weight will drop.
After I started the diet, in a short span of 1 month, I lost 5kg. In my diet, I also incorporated fruits into it as I am hypoglycemia.
Due to the shortage of female hormones in my body because of the anti hormonal drugs that I need to take, my body is not able to breakdown carbs effectively while exercising even if it is a tiny amount. Having a large amount of belly fats will increase my chances of getting a relapse thus I decided it is worth it to make a change in my life style and diet.
Till date, I have been on this diet for 8 months, I managed to keep my weight at a healthy range. Even though adhering to this diet is tough but I think keeping myself alive despite all I went through and still going through is worth it.
I always believe if you have the will, you will have the way. Everything is tough, it is just if you are willing to take a chance to make the change.
Someone told me this:
“Change is the only constant in life.”
If the change can keep you alive , no matter how tough it is, you will want to do it.
